Bulletproof school backpacks have been spotted on shelves at American retailer OfficeMax amid growing security concerns.
According to the description the backpack provides “security and convenience” and has the look and feel of an everyday backpack.
It is constructed with nylon fabric and armoured to be bulletproof, manufacturers Guard Dog Security note.
The backpacks go on sale as demand for bulletproof clothing grows exponentially in America.

According to Washington Top News reports Colombian-based companies that focus on ballistic-resistant clothing such as jackets, accessories and children’s apparel are finding a ripe market in America.
With an estimated 3 million American gun owners and several prominent mass shootings, namely in schools, protection has become a big market for these companies.
One firm saw its bulletproof backpacks sell out within minutes following the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, in February.
According to an August 2017 report from Market Research, body armour manufacturing is a $465 million-a-year industry and a Grandview Research 2016 study projects that the industry could reach over $5 billion globally by 2024.
