BBC anchor caught wearing shorts under desk on hottest day of the year

Pictures of a BBC News anchor wearing shorts under his desk on Wednesday have been doing the rounds on social media.

With temperatures reaching 28.3C in Northolt, West London, presenter Shaun Ley had to resort to drastic measures by donning shorts with his suit during the news bulletin.

A wide shot of the studio exposed his bear legs, with one eagle-eyed viewer writing on Twitter: “Is BBC news reader Shaun Ley keeping his cool by wearing shorts? And if so, were viewers meant to find out?”

The Independent has a clip of the faux pas.
