A man stabbed in an early morning attack in London’s West End is “not expected to live”

A man stabbed in an early morning attack in London’s West End is “not expected to live,” a court heard.

Joe Gynane, 34, is accused of stabbing the man, 37, in Romilly Street, Soho, at around 6am on Sunday morning.

He is further accused of stabbing a 16-year-old boy in Camden over five-and-a-half hours later at 11.36am.

Today he appeared in court charged with the two attempted murders.

It is alleged he was arrested near to the second stabbing and told officers he had swallowed drugs.

It is further alleged he assaulted two police officers at University College Hospital.

He is also charged with having a knife.

Prosecutor Ms Rosemary Edwin told Westminster Magistrate’s’ Court: “One of the victims is not expected to live.

“The others are not serious but I am waiting for a condition update on one of the victims.”

Wearing a grey jumper, Gynane refused to stand in the dock when asked.

He spoke to confirm his name, age and that he had no address and was not asked to enter a plea.

He was remanded into custody until his next appearance at the Old Bailey next month.
