PMQs 23rd November – I’ll show you all my assets…just be patient

The NHS is in a mess. Doctors say it. The BMA says it. Journalists say it. And most importantly patients say it. The only people who don’t say it are the Tory government. During today’s PMQs Corbyn made another telling performance, attacking May on the health service, and the “post-truths” her party has made up about it. May said there was £10bn extra funding for the NHS but that figure has been questioned by the UK Statistics Authority, and the...

UK $1.5 Trillion Poorer Since Voting to Leave the EU

The UK is $1.5 trillion poorer since voting to leave the European Union, according to a Credit Suisse study. Since the referendum in June the pound has weakened 16 per cent against the dollar, with plenty more misery to come according to recent reports. Brexit Secretary David Davis recently met with the European Parliament's chief negotiator Guy Verhofstadt to start proceedings, although it is understood he faced stern opposition. After senior German politician Manfred Weber met Davis in Strasbourg on Tuesday he...

Conservative Party accused of lying over £10bn NHS funding claims

The Conservative Government has come under fire for its repeated promise of a £10bn increase in funding for the struggling National Health Service. The UK Statistics Authority are questioning the veracity of the claims, as the National Audit Office has described the NHS problems as “endemic” and “unsustainable.” It appears that the ten billion claim, if real, would help solve some of the NHS funding issues, but this doesn’t appear to be the case. The UK Statistics Authority, an independent...

The Coffee Shop That Lets You Pay In…. Landlines

Landlines are officially on their way to becoming redundant with a fifth of the population estimating that their home will be landline-free within two years, if not sooner. Over half of those in London consider the landline a ‘redundant’ piece of technology, rising to seven in ten among 18-24 year olds with sixty per cent of the nation saying they only keep a landline around because they need it for their broadband connection, the Relish study revealed. Now a London coffee...

“There is no idea what Brexit really means,” German MEP points out the obvious

David Davies, our esteemed Brexit Minister, has been accused of not really having any idea what Brexit means. This will come as no surprise to many Remain, and, if they are honest with themselves, some Leave voters as well. Manfred Weber, a German MEP, and Chair of centre-right European People’s Party, made his comments after a meeting with Davis, which didn’t sound vert productive. Weber was highly critical of the lack of a plan from the UK regarding Brexit, he...

Brexit slashed £1.5 TRILLION from UK household wealth, claims report

A report has found that the fall-out from Brexit has reduced UK household wealth, by a huge sum, in the months since the British public voted to leave the EU. The sky-high figure of £1.5 trillion was slashed from the pockets of UK citizens. The report, by Credit Suisse, also found that the number of people in the UK who have more than one million dollars has reduced by almost 15 per cent, one of the largest drops in any...

Businesses in Richmond Upon Thames subsidise Heathrow Airport Tax Cut

Following the recent confirmation of the expansion to Heathrow Airport, and subsequently Zac Goldsmith’s resignation, it is unsurprising that rising property taxes were the topic of conversation as Nick Clegg and Liberal Democrat candidate Sarah Olney recently met with Richmond High Street business owners. Whilst businesses in Richmond upon Thames face a staggering £70m increase in business rates over the next 5 years, Heathrow Airport, the issue at the centre of the current by-election, in comparison received a tax cut...

Fabric to Reopen

Fabric nightclub is to reopen after a rescue deal was approved by a judge, according to new reports. In what was described by our Northern Correspondent John Locke as a "bullshit decision", the nightclub was closed down in September after two teenagers died after taking drugs at the club. But today a district judge at Highbury Corner Magistrates agreed the club could reopen following talks with police and Islington Council JUST ANNOUNCED: @fabriclondon will reopen. Thanks to all who helped find...
