These shocking photographs show the moment a man was dramatically rescued after being spotted “dangling” 60 feet from the ground on an ELECTRICITY PYLON.
Fire service, police and air ambulance crews rushed to the aid of the mystery dangler, yesterday (August 7) and he was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital as a precaution, police said.
Pictures show the man, believed to be in his 30s, hanging precariously from an electricity wire before a major emergency services operation can be seen attempting to rescue him from the 275 kV line.
Police have said that he currently faces no charge.
The circumstances leading to the man becoming trapped up the pylon in Hutton, Lancs., remain unknown, a force spokesman added.
A statement from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “The call came from the police reporting that a man, alive but incapacitated, was trapped at a height of 20 metres above the ground on an electricity pylon.
“The utility company shut off the electricity to the pylon and members of the Rope Rescue Team ascended the pylon, initially securing the casualty to prevent him falling, then administering medication provided by medical personnel at the scene.”
A spokesman for the National Grid had earlier said: “We are aware of a person having climbed a pylon near Penwortham.
“We have switched off the overhead line and the emergency services are on site dealing with the situation.
“Local power supplies are not affected.”
