A British beauty spot once named as the location of the ancient city of Troy is being plagued – by DOGGERS.
Walkers say they are fed up seeing people gathering behind bushes to watch other couples have sex in Gog Magog, in Cambs.
Ramblers say they often see men peering out from behind trees and bushes catching a glimpse of other couples having sex.
The book Where Troy Once Stood argues that the ancient city of Troy was in fact located in the Gog Magog Downs.
The book claimed the Trojan War was fought between groups of Celts.
Brenda Taylor, 55, of Cherry Hinton, Cambs.,said: “I think it’s a disgrace that these men should just be lurking around the bushes to watch people having sex.
”Children walk by here and play. It is disgusting.”
Another walker, who asked not to be named, also added: “This is a bit too public, and I think the men who go there to look for sex should just put it away.”
Another walker, asked not be named, says she has walked past the dogging site with her children and dog.
She added: “I’d heard they were in there (bushes) and I think it’s a bit creepy and weird.
“If they want to do that can’t they go somewhere where there are no children? And they might scare the dogs.”
Although the practice of dogging is not explicitly banned by one particular law, there are a multitude of offences anyone one caught doing the deed in public could be charged with.
These include anything from public lewdness, indecent exposure and gross indecency.
People caught dogging could be prosecuted under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 or under the common law offence of outraging public decency.
In some cases doggers have found themselves on the sex offenders register.
