New research from Veterans Assistance UK has revealed that there are 13,000 homeless veterans in the UK today as the country prepares to squander millions of pounds on the wedding of one ex serviceman.

The wedding of the former Blues and Royals Squadron Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has already been embroiled in controversy after a Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead council chief called for homeless people in Windsor to be removed before the Royal Wedding on 19 May.

But shocking new statistics have revealed that many of them could be ex-servicemen.

Speaking in parliament today Mary Creagh, the MP for Wakefield, highlighted data showing tens of thousands of veterans could be living on the streets.

She called for the government to count armed forces and veterans on the census as recommended by the ONS.
