Will Young to read Two Dads book about same sex parents on CBeebies for LGBT History Month

The singer Will Young is set to read a children’s story about same sex parents on CBeebies Bedtime Stories show.

The Bedtime Stories have in the past been read by celebrities such as Tom Hardy, Jessica Ennis-Hill and Tim Peake.

Will Young has chosen Two Dads by Carolyn Robertson, her second illustrated children’s book about same sex parents.

Carolyn Robertson and her partner are adoptive parents and she is a keen advocate of adopted children and children in LGBT families.

In the past she has said: “books involving same sex families shouldn’t be niche or specialist, my aim is to get books reflecting different types of families into the mainstream, to normalise our types of families.”

Two Dads is a children’s book about a boy adopted and raised by two fathers.

“Children’s books are one of the first ways we learn about the world around us so I’m overjoyed to be reading a story to mark LGBT History Month,” said Will Young.

“More so than ever, families in all forms should be recognised and celebrated – whether that’s two dads, two mums, families with a mum and a dad, those with a single parent, adoptive families and so on.

“I’ve never been more sure that inclusivity starts from the youngest possible age. I hope these stories will be used for years to come.”

Two Dads is written by Carolyn Robertson and illustrated by Sophie Humphreys.

You can watch Young reading the book from 9 February at 6.50pm every night to mark LGBT history month.
