Ladies Day is the biggest day of Royal Ascot, but the real race is for punters to back the colour of the Queen’s hat.
Ladbrokes even had a visit from ‘The Queen’ this morning, after she made a pit stop to her local shop on the way to the racecourse.
Shop staff reported that ‘Her Majesty’ had a cheeky fiver on the colour blue.
The chances of Her Majesty wearing a blue hat on Ladies Day have been set at 3/1, while yellow or pink can be backed at 4/1.
With our current summer heatwave the monarch is not expected to wear darker colours, making silver, brown, or black outsiders at 12/1, 20/1 and 50/1 respectively.
And patriotic punters can even get 500/1 odds on Her Majesty turning up in a Union Jack-themed hat.
“Last year the Queen wore an elegant orange on Ladies Day, but many Brits believe she’ll be sporting a summery blue this time around,” said Ladbrokes’ Nicola McGeady.
“The colour of the Queen’s hat is one of our most popular novelty betting events, and only a handful of people know what she’ll be going for.”
