A new watchmaker has vowed to make the most of his time, after learning a vital life lesson in time management from his great grandfather he only met as a baby.
Ryan Cusack fell in love with watches when he was given a family heirloom by his grandad Gilbert, for his tenth birthday.
The watch, which had belonged to his great grandfather, was handed over as a birthday present by electrician Gilbert, 84.
Now, 21 years later, Ryan is still fascinated by timepieces, which inspired him to launch his own watch and accessories company – named Ryan & Gilbert after the pair.
Ryan, 31, said: “My first watch was given to me by my grandad Gilbert for my tenth birthday.
“He trusted me with something that he’d been given by his own father, and that really moved me.
“On the back of it there’s an engraving that reads ‘Make the Most of your Time.’
“Those words have stuck with me ever since – and I want to share that ethos through my own watches.”
