Zizzi’s vegan pizza sales have increased by 104 per-cent since 2016

Released to tie in with World Vegan Day (1st November), which commences World Vegan Month, sales data research from high-street Italian chain restaurant Zizzi suggests that the popularity of veganism is continuing to rise, with sales of vegan dishes increasing by a huge 246 per-cent since last November. The restaurant has sold more than 166,000 dairy and meat-free meals since summer, alone.

Examining sales data of vegan dishes as part of Zizzi’s ongoing commitment to providing the most varied menu on the high-street, the research also found that sales of vegan pizza have more than doubled over the last 12 months, with an increase of 104 per-cent.

The first high-street restaurant to offer a vegan cheese alternative, Zizzi’s vegan pizzas were the most popular vegan option sold last year, with more than 155,000 sold last year. A figure that looks set to increase with the introduction of two brand new meat and dairy-free pizzas – Zucca Rustica (pictured) and Classic Pepperonata.

The sales data research also suggests sales of vegan desserts in 2017 have increased tenfold in the last year, with sticky chocolate and praline torte the most popular vegan dessert sold at Zizzi, with 116,040 units shifted in the past year. Apart from the vegan pizzas, the data also found Zizzi’s lentil ragu to be the most popular vegan main, with 66,693 dishes sold since 2016.

Jo Fawcett, Zizzi marketing director said: “At Zizzi we pride ourselves on creating great dining experiences for all by providing a menu that caters for everyone. We aim to take the stress out of dining to ensure good times for all.”
