As S. Pellegrino’s hunt for the World’s best young chef progresses, spanning across 20 worldwide destinations, the ten UK semi-finalists have been announced. Two of the ten young cooks (Alberton Fluttero and Antonio Sanzone) are London-based, while the other eight accomplished culinary masterminds are scattered out across the UK and Ireland. The full list of the regional semi-finalists can be found here: https://www.finedininglovers.com/special/sanpellegrinoyoungchef2015/blog/spellegrino-young-chef-2015-the-candidates/
So leading up to the competition’s finale in June, which will take place in Italy during Expo Milano 2015, the UK and Ireland semi-finals will take place at London’s most famous department store Harrods on February 24th, with a judging panel of leading Michelin Starred chefs on board. Including Benares Restaurant’s Atul Kochhar, Cleaver East’s Oliver Dunne, head-chef of Duck & Waffle – Daniel Doherty, and Clare Smyth MBE of Restaurant Gordon Ramsey.
The latter of whom is the first female chef to hold and retain three Michelin Stars and is one of only six worldwide ever to have accomplished this, and is set to mentor the UK semi-final winner through to the competition’s final.
