Food & Drink Guide to National Pizza Day 2018

Celebrating National Pizza Day on Friday 9th February, over 400 UK restaurants will offer a range of one-off specials, collaborations, or 30 per cent discount on pizzas.

On Thursday 8th February, Foodism will team up with Street Feast, beginning National Pizza Day celebrations with a huge preview party held near Canada Water, London. Taking place at Street Feast’s Hawker House, the event will welcome over 1,000 pizza enthusiasts and showcase some of the country’s best pizza, all under one roof. Confirmed vendors include Pizza Pilgrims, Radio Alice, Born & Raised, L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele, Baz & Fred, Fundi and more. Tickets are available from eventbrite.co.uk and are priced at £15, including entry and two complimentary drinks.

Taking place on National Pizza Day (9th February), London pizza favourites including Pizza Pilgrims, Yard Sale, Voodoo Rays, Radio Alice and Four Hundred Rabbits will all offer customers 30 per cent discount, for one day only. Nationwide participants include Strada, Gusto, Rossopomodoro and Prezzo. To claim the 30 per cent discount, customers will need to download an automated voucher from nationalpizzaday.co.uk and print (or present the voucher on their phones) at participating restaurants.

Also celebrating National Pizza Day, a number of exciting collaborations will take place. Pizza Pilgrims will work with temper chef Neil Rankin to create a “pimped” Hawaiian pizza, hoping to change perception of pineapple as a pizza topping. (We’re sceptical, but there’s only one way to find out if this version will work). Elsewhere, Four Hundred Rabbits will team up with Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen to launch two pizza specials, including salt marsh lamb marinated in Zoe’s signature Jollof spice mix, joined by Marzano DOP tomatoes, Zoe’s spiced peanut sauce, cassava and spring onions. Yard Sale, on the other hand, will team up with vegan street food vendors Biff’s Jack Sack, serving a special vegan pizza topped with Biff’s crispy fried jackfruit, buffalo sauce, blue cheese sauce, fresh ‘slaw, coriander and yoghurt dressing.

In addition to offering 30 per cent discount on all pizzas, Prezzo will mark National Pizza Day with the introduction of two brand new charcoal-based pizza specials – one meat and one vegetarian, available at all 265 Prezzo sites across the UK. Other one-off specials will be available from the likes of Mews of Mayfair, introducing a fancy truffle-based special; and Mamma Dough with a unique three-course pizza menu. Moreover, Radio Alice in Hoxton will provide diners with the chance to win a pizza masterclass with founder Matteo Aleo in Bologna, Italy, and Baz & Fred will give away 50 free ‘Chorizo and Nduja’ pizzas, on a first-come-first-served basis.

Nonna’s Gelato ‘Margarita Gelato Pizza Cake’

Offering something sweet, Nonna’s Gelato has created a ‘Margarita Gelato Pizza Cake’ – made with a brioche dough base and crust, topped with basil-infused Fior di Latte gelato and a sweet tomato coulis ripple – garnished with candied basil leaves. The pizza cake will be available at Foodism’s National Pizza Day party, at all three Yard Sale sites on National Pizza Day, and in 125ml tubs available for takeaway.
