Well established, very high end Mayfair favourite, Le Deli by Joël Robuchon, has confirmed that a sister branch is now set to open on the King’s Road in Chelsea on Monday 6th November. As with the Mayfair branch., the new site will open early until late, with breakfast, lunch and dinner available to eat in or to take-away, as well as giving Chelsea residents a chance to indulge in its highly regarded bread and patisserie.
Le Deli King’s Road will open for breakfast, offering French deli-style food all day, and then wine, cheese and charcuterie in the evenings. King’s Road locals will also be the first to try the brand-new savoury iteration of Le Deli’s cube croissant, to be revealed on opening.
This design is relaxed and open-plan, with a cream leather seating area surrounded by the shops suitably beautiful produce, from beautiful boxes of Valrhona chocolates to artisanal jams. There is then a wrap-around deli counter which occupies one end of the room and which will serve French rotisserie chicken (how popular is that going to be – I cannot wait), freshly cooked and available to take away or to eat in, alongside a selection of fresh seasonal salads, all created by Group Executive Chef David Alves, who created the well-pitched all-day menu at Le Deli in Mayfair, and who was key in the menu development at the recently relaunched L’Atelier Robuchon in Mayfair.
For early risers there is a nod to English tastes with cooked breakfast items on offer such as Eggs Benedict, Ham & Cheese or Goats Cheese Croissant or Avocado Omelette with Caviar, with continental tastes not forgotten with classic freshly baked viennoiserie. From 10am onwards the renowned cube croissant Le Deli has become famous for will be available in a variety of flavours including Pistachio, Vanilla and Chocolate. Le Deli King’s Road will be introducing new croissant flavours as well as their first ever savoury cube.
Lunch promises a selection of salads, hot plates and daily specials, sandwiches and quiches and from mid-afternoon Le Deli will offer the well heeled residents of the Royal Borough a champagne afternoon tea, comprising mini sandwiches; Foie Gras Toast with Spiced Pear Compote, Cucumber Finger Sandwiches and Zucchini Aubergine Burgers, some of Le Deli’s famous pastries; Tarte au Citron and Éclair au Chocolat, alongside the classic scones with strawberry jam and Devonshire cream.
Evenings are planned to be a bit simpler with their recommendations on interesting cheeses, alongside charcuterie boards and bread baskets freshly baked in-house, with wine and cocktails to make the evening glide by. Alongside all of this the patisserie will offer the French favourites you would hope for; from tarte aux framboises, gâteau à la pistache to chocolat et noisette. All of the above is available for delivery and takeaway via the website.
I suspect this place is going to go down very well indeed.
