Bussey Building rooftop re-opens for summer season

By Joe Mellor, Deputy Editor

Frank’s Bar on top of the NCP car park, in Peckham is known throughout the UK and beyond, but what most people don’t know, is there’s another rooftop bar, with an even better view circa two mins away.

The Bussey Rooftop Bar is now open for summer 2015 with panoramic views, fantastic cocktails, delicious pizza (provided by indie pizzeria, Pizza Pilgrims) and a huge rooftop cinema across the hallway. It is worth the slog up the flights of stairs, and you have earned your drink, by the time you arrive into the light.

The bar area has been spruced up with an ultra-cool industrial refit and if that’s not thrilling enough, now you can enjoy a cool cocktail with a side of showmanship as British flair bartending act, Bar Wizard, takes the reigns.

Shooting to fame on Britain’s Got Talent, the deft-of-hand duo has taken a hiatus from touring their Tandem Flair Show worldwide to whip up themed cocktails for London’s rooftop revellers in both Peckham

When the TLE gang turned up we tried every cocktail (more than once, rude not to) and highly recommend the Thai Punch, Jamaican Mule and Pretty in Pink. One of our group woke up with loads of little plastic dinosaurs in his pockets, which we think came free with one of the cocktails, so get down there Jurassic Park fans. However, there is a chance we found the toys somewhere else later in the evening, it all got pretty hazy.

As you can imagine, there were some sore heads in the morning, especially as we ended the night downing Blue WKD in grim pub in Forest Hill, stay classy guys.

So apart from our random voyage to the darkest corners of South East London, after the Bussey closed, we highly recommend a night drinking cocktails, looking over the city of London, as if for a few small moments, you own the place.

Just make sure you take a responsible adult, to get you home safely, as we don’t know any.
