Beer of the Week – Siren Craft Brew Soundwave IPA

By Jonathan Hatchman, Food Editor, @TLE_Food

Strength: 5.6%

Brewed: Finchampstead, Berkshire

Set up in Berkshire in 2012, Siren is heavily inspired by Homer’s Odyssey, in so far as crafting beers named after various characters. Since initiating, however, the brewery has become widely renowned for a desire to strive and create the absolute best beers within the brew team’s capabilities – thus using the finest ingredients, putting hours into the brewing process and constantly tweaking the recipes for each batch of beer before its made ready available.

The brewery’s signature India Pale Ale – Soundwave – is heavily inspired by the craft beer of America’s west coast. With an intensity of hops both on the nose and on the palate, fruit juice aromas such as mango, grapefruit and peach are joined by bold notes of pine, all of which carry on within the taste. Prominent resinous notes join some juiciness and a subtle, refreshing bitterness delivered by the beer’s hopping process. With a lasting, clean bitter finish Siren’s Soundwave, resolutely, manages to evoke the pale ale of sunny California to a very impressive standard.
