CRATE’s ‘Golden’ has already been featured as our ‘Beer of the Week’, however, having recently partaken in a bottle of the brewery’s Pale, we have a new favourite. For those unfamiliar with the brewery, Crate was set up in 2012 and operates from an old print factory in the heart of London’s Hackney Wick. Using only the finest British Malts and internationally sourced Hops, the brand now has ten different brews to its name is supported by a number of acclaimed restaurant groups and hotels, including Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsay, Mark Hix, The Berkeley and more.
A single hopped Ale, Pale is a hazy golden Beer with strong tropical fruit aromas, meanwhile the taste is ever-so-slightly bitter, albeit refreshing with notes of grassiness and citrus fruits, finished with a hint of biscuit. The finish isn’t very strong, alike other Pale Ales, yet the drink is perfect for a warm summer’s day.
CRATE Brewery can be found at Unit 7, Queens Yard, Hackney Wick, London, E9 5EN and their full range is available to purchase from cratebrewery.com.
