Cinema-lovers across the country will be pulling up a blanket to watch classic films under the stars this summer as Luna Cinema announces its 2017 season of open air cinema.
Running until October at some of the most stunning locations in London, including Hampton Court Palace, Kew Gardens, Greenwich Park and Kenwood House, the company will show both much-loved classics and brand new blockbusters, including the six-time Oscar-winning La La Land, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Hacksaw Ridge, Bridget Jones’ Baby and Arrival.
Other season highlights include screenings of Cocktail at One New Change, overlooking St. Paul’s Cathedral in the heart of The City, La La Land in Dulwich Park and Dirty Dancing in Audley End House.
George Wood, founder of The Luna Cinema, said: “I’m thrilled to be launching The Luna Cinema 2017, our biggest season to date, with some incredible new venues to add to our existing list of the country’s most jaw-dropping backdrops in which to enjoy a classic film under thestars. Alongside some huge anniversary screenings such as Dirty Dancing (30 years), The Graduate (50 years) and Casablanca (75 years), we’re really excited to be screening the movie of the moment La La Land this season – the perfect film to watch on a balmy summer’s evening.”
Described as “the kings of the outdoor cinema experience”, The Luna Cinema continues its tradition of pairing setting and story at several locations.
Making a return this year are the ever-popular screenings of Jaws at Brockwell Lido, where brave VIP ticket-holders watch the film from dinghies in the water.
Plus, audiences can enjoy Pride and Prejudice (2005) at Chatsworth House, where much of the movie was shot. In addition to a screening of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone at Alnwick Castle (the original Hogwarts), there will be a second Harry Potter themed evening where fans will be given the opportunity to vote for their favourite of the eight Harry Potter films and choose which they want to watch on the night.
