An animal loving photographer has captured a hilarious set of pictures showing dogs leaping for treats with their eyes and mouths wide open.
The ingenious snaps were taken using a technique which catches the dogs’ faces a split-second before they munch down on tasty biscuits.
The photos show the dogs being excited, surprised and even sad if they missed their snack.
Photographer Christian Vieler, from Waltrop, Germany, has just published the collection of pictures in his new book, called ‘Treat!’
Christian used a super-fast shutter speed to take the shots, which he perfected when exploring a new camera he purchased in 2012.
Not wanting to keep asking his friends to pose for him, Christian decided to photograph different dogs instead – including his Labrador, Lotte.
He said: “When I show some people my shots they say the dog looks ugly – but that’s mostly by people who don’t have dogs.
“For me, however, the images have their own magic.”
Since 2016 Christian has worked as a professional dog photographer.
He now gets bombarded with requests asking him to take pictures of people’s pets.
He added: “Every shoot I am looking for that specific moment when the dog is looking as cute or funny as they can be.
“When I meet my clients – the dogs – I don’t know where the journey will end.
“So I have to master the challenge of what to do and when to do it in order to get the best results out of the day.
“For me, it’s all about the moments when the dogs are trying to catch the food.
“That cannot be seen without the power of freezing motion – dog’s faces with magnificent lineaments, telling us stories of panic, desire and joy.”
The book, which features 144 pages, is on sale now for $9.99 (£7.50).
