PLAYLIST: Best of SEPTEMBER 2018

It’s autumn, people. The season of layers and sour, public transport BO is upon us. While you’re considering that mid-level tog duvet on the John Lewis website (*note: I may not know this site’s audience) enjoy some of September’s seasonally-melancholy bangers in our latest playlist round-up.

The highlights here? Well, The Smashing Pumpkins are good again, which is a Halloween miracle. Fizzy Blood have gone all garage fuzz and written a total earworm, and Canterbury doomsters OHHMS are gearing up for a new release with some big riffs on ‘Shambles’. Plus, We Are The City have returned after what seems like forever having made an extremely lovely feature-length film.

We’ve also got a triumvirate of live sessions from The Pixies, Such Gold and City and Colour. Are they new songs? No. Are they lovely, with all the energy and unpredictability only live recordings can provide? Certainly.
