British photographer Daniel Freeman is set to host an exclusive American themed installation in Chiswick restaurant Outsider Tart this summer.
The show, called American Nightscapes: a Small Town Portrait in Photography & Food, is Freeman’s first solo show in the UK and will precede plans to stage an exhibition of his work in the USA and a second roadtrip to Navigate Trump’s America.
Freeman made the ultimate road trip across America to follow in the footsteps of photographers such as Stephen Shore, William Eggleston and Robert Frank.
Starting on the east coast in Boston and ending on the west in Oakland, California, Freeman deliberately avoided big cities, navigating the small towns of everyday America across 21 States.
To reflect pre Trump America in a novel way, Freeman shot at night, using street, shop and moonlight to illuminate details in his nocturnal portraits.
The States featured in this collaboration include New York (upstate), Connecticut, Maryland, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California (Southern).
Outsider Tart co-founder and chef David Muniz will create a special month long menu to reflect the 12 States visited by this exhibition, which runs until July 9th. The cafe is renowned for its blue plates which draw on local American cuisines.
Limited edition signed prints of Daniel’s photographs will be available for sale during the event.
