The former PM quickly corrected himself, saying he meant Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky.
The Russian president claimed he is in "no rush" to take the Donbas region, adding that only volunteer soldiers were deployed to fight in Ukraine.
The outspoken pop legend said the Russian president is "pure evil".
He said the West “doesn’t even bother to hide that its aim is to damage the entire Russian economy, every Russian”.
"We could have had it all. The full glory of the USSR. My fishing photos would be in every media."
It comes as Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said western countries are involved in 'economic banditry' against Russia and that Moscow would respond.
Lindsey Graham asked: "Is there a Brutus in Russia?"
"If we are not consistent, we will, understandably, receive the charge of hypocrisy' the former labour leader said.
