As we enter week 13 of the NFL season here’s a look at the contenders for the regular season MVP award.
Tom Brady – QB New England Patriots
Brady may not have as good targets as other elite QB’s in the NFL but he’s showing why he’s a winner this season; top of the AFC East, 24 Touchdown passes with only 5 interceptions. Things are going well in Foxborough.
Aaron Rodgers – QB Green Bay Packers
Green Bays’ golden ticket is certainly on track for regular season MVP honours. Rodgers has got it all; he can pass, move, run, duck & dive as visiting teams to Lambeau Field are finding out to their cost. He’s already broken some records this season and let’s not forget his stats: 28 Touchdowns with only 3 interceptions are impressive numbers.
Antonio Brown – WR Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers wide receiver has had a hot season so far linking up with QB Big Ben Roethlisberger. Brown has gone into the end-zone 9 times this season and has the highest receiving yards in the league so far with 1161. The Steelers are currently 7-4 and with Brown on form they are in the hunt for a play-off spot.
JJ Watt – DE Houston Texans
There’s a line in a song by Ludacris “Everybody got 99 problems but ain’t got sacks like JJ Watt.” Supposedly the best paid defensive player in the league, Watt is putting in some sterling performances this season, justifying his hefty salary. So far he has 4 touchdowns the highest for a defensive linesman. Records are tumbling – could MVP be on the cards?
DeMarco Murray – RB Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys have run the football much more this season and Murray has been a standout player for Dallas. 244 carries, 7 touchdowns and rushing for over 1200 yards, if Murray can carry ‘Big D’ to the play-offs, who knows what could happen?
