A stunning scale-model of the Moon has gone on display to give star-gazers a chance to see it up close.
The model – measuring 21 feet in diameter – uses NASA imagery at a sale of 1:500,000 to reveal amazing detail of its pitted surface.
‘Museum of the Moon’ has gone on display in the Great Hall of the University of Bristol where scientists there examined moon rocks from the first landings in 1969.
Designed by artist Luke Jerram, members of the public can study earth’s satellite while listening to a soundtrack by composer Dan Jones.
Mr Jerram said: “This is an opportunity for the public to have a close encounter with the moon, to study every detail of its surface and to bathe in moonlight.
“The Great Hall is such an amazing space to present the Museum of the Moon and I’m really grateful for the University’s support to present this artwork.”
