Piers Morgan has responded after he was booed and jeered by parts of the crowd at the National Television Awards last night.
The outspoken presenter was nominated in the TV Interview category for his TalkTV show, Piers Morgan Uncensored, but lost out to The Graham Norton Show.
During the awards ceremony, comedian Joel Dommett, who was hosting the awards, introduced Piers to the crowd, prompting a mix of boos and cheers from those in attendance.
As the TalkTV presenter looked around, arms outstretched at the reaction, Dommett said: “Hey, everyone, say what you like about Piers Morgan…”
After the show, Piers hit back about the comments saying: “Got the Tube in searing heat. Got mocked by a host I’ve never heard of… Got booed by an audience of shrieking banshees… Got beaten by Graham bloody Norton.. And now getting the first limo I can find the hell outta here. Thanks for a great night NTAs.”
Piers later quoted Cristiano Ronaldo in a post on X, writing: “Some fans keep booing and whistling at me because I’m handsome, rich and a great player. They envy me.”
He wasn’t the only one to be met with a somewhat mixed reaction from the crowd at the NTAs, with the stars of This Morning also being booed when they were introduced.
